Alcazaba of the Alhambra - Granada - Spain

The Alcazaba in Granada, Spain. The oldest construction of the enclosure and that gave protection to the palaces of this jewel that is the Alhambra.

The first constructions date back to the Caliphate period and are believed to be built on an ancient Roman fortress, although the main buildings are already Nasrid-era and date between the thirteenth and fifteenth centuries and later Christian additions.

We know her during the visit made to the Alhambra site in November 2020. And we also leave you the video of the YouTube Channel with the report of the Alcazaba.

Following the description, it was already with Mohamed Ibn ben Alhamar, Mohamed I, in the thirteenth century, that it was decided to leave the Alcazaba cadima, which was in the Albaicín, and placed his residence in the Alhambra. From this time date the Alcazaba, the Tower of Sailing and named after the bell that announced victory with the conquest of the city or the Tower of Homage. Significant are also the Broken Tower or the Courtyard of Arms.

From these watchtowers, the views over the city of Granada are exceptional. As the satellite view reference and some of the perspectives from the Alcazaba show.

And a few more photos of this wonder that forms the citadel of the Alhambra.

The plan with the location in the city and within the enclosure of La Alhambra.
